The aim of the Institute is to encourage, promote, and further interest in Canadian military issues.
The RMIM has the following objectives:
- To provide, through literature, presentations, and discussions, information and opinions on matters of military importance to Canada;
- To maintain a library consisting of books and materials of historic value relating to military interests;
- To recognize and acknowledge Manitobans and Canadians who have provided notable support to Canada's defense and security forces;
- To promote the military and security forces through social and professional contact; and,
- To promote the Cadet movement in Canada.
The RMIM is a member of the National body, the Canadian Defence Association (CDA).
